Should be an interesting game against a team expected to make a big jump in the standings this year. Sounds vaguely familiar.
Highlights and more after the jump.

I hope Calderon shows he can handle Arenas defensively. If he can’t show that, I think coach Triano will increasingly be considering starting Jarrett Jack who showed a really good all around game at the point guard spot.
But I just don’t see Calderon as a bench player anymore, but it’s not clear whether he can play on an defensively oriented team and be efficient as a starter. Hopefully Arenas is not as quick as a CP or a Harris tonight.

I agree on starting Jack. he’s way quicker. Every team is gonna explore calderon because the rest of the raptors is getting pretty good in D. Although Calderon’s stats are better than Jacks last years these stats don’t display how many times he was run by at the defensive side. I seen it a lot last year. this will loose you games, not a guy that has a 0.05 less shooting percentage then his collegue pointgaurd.
let Calderon come of the bench, play the 2nd units. he doesnt have to worry a lot about the d and gives him more room to look for his (excellent) shot in offense. this is also perfect because he needs space to make these shots which he can find better confronting 2nd units.
and serious. Raptors are starting something quick this year. I hope Triano goes with this roll and let Jack start. His quickness is also lovely on the offensive side. It will be more fun to see as well. his pass that will lead to an assist is also something you won’t see in the stats but he got this weapon way more under controll than this Calderon defensive style of running up the floor from east to west. Let Jarret fly Triano! Let’s keep it up. This team needs that. Don’t wait a couple of games because you know and you feel you need something different than Calderon to win something. And don’t listen to these ultimate pro-Calderon reporters, stuff that he could be a all star because of his turnover assist ratio. off course this stat is high the way he plays but again, he misses the quick entry pass that will LEAD to assists. His high ratio was also on a shooting team which helped calderon’s status with nailing a lot of the shots coming from a simple pass. This team will go to the basket and the entire team has come there quickly and therefore you need Jack.

Calderon was 50% last year and hasn’t played in 5 months. Give him some time.
Besides Jack can play the Shooting guard with Calderon at the point.
(imagine Kidd+Terry vs Calderon+Jack)

I get very frustrated with Jose at times but he’s still the best option at PG. Jack is more of a scorer than a pure PG anyway and is perfect for the role he was brought in to fill.

Yeah i get frustrated with jose sometimes too, but the raps will be playing help defence a lot this season. I thought belinelli tries to reach too much.
