Raptors looking to shut down Granger

Indiana Pacers Toronto Raptors

The Raptors and Pacers meet tonight for the third time this season before wrapping up their season series Tuesday in Indiana. The last time the Raptors played the Pacers, the Raps got out to a big early lead only to cough it up in the second half. That was on a second game of a back to back after a hard-fought game against the Celtics. The Pacers will try to repeat that performance against a well rested Raptors squad.

Chris Bosh is having the best season of his career. He’s improved in every aspect of the game but he’ll be tested tonight when he gets the task to guarding Danny Granger. Granger likes to play on the perimeter and shoot threes. Bosh prefers to stay close to the rim and be in position to help and rebound the ball. If the Pacers keep Bosh on the perimeter it’ll be up to Andrea to control the boards, something he hasn’t learned to do consistently yet. Hopefully he has recovered from his foot problems to help the Raptors send the fans home happy.

Raptors back on Broadway

Toronto Raptors New York Knicks

It was Italian Heritage Night the last time these two teams met in New York. The Raps will probably be looking for energy off the bench after playing the Heat last night. Marco Belinelli missed the previous game with flu symptoms but he should be ready to play tonight. Marco’s been in a groove the past few games putting up over 10ppg after being inconsistent for most of the season. He’s going to look for his time in the spotlight while most eyes will once again be on the Bargnani and Gallinari matchup.

Battle for fifth in the East

Miami Heat Toronto Raptors

Tonight’s game against the Miami Heat is shaping up to be the biggest of the season. Everyone around the Raptors is talking about possibly moving up in the standings and getting to that fifth spot. The Raptors and the Heat have each won a game against each other and they’ll play once more on March 28. Getting a tie breaker against the Heat is a priority since it looks like the battle for fifth is going to be a season-long fight.

DeMar DeRozan injured his ankle in practice yesterday and he’ll probably be out tonight. Last thing the Raptors need is for the rook to go up against Wade and not be 100%. Looks like it’ll either be Wright or Weems filling in.

Update via Paul Jones: Sonny Weems will be starting.
