Another big game tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats who are just ahead of the Raptors in the standings. Charlotte is a very good team at home with a record of 27-8 and that’s something the Raptors will have to overcome if they want to stay ahead of the Bulls. Hedo should be back in the lineup and with all the controversy surrounding his off-court behaviour, will he finally be able to deliver on the promise of his contract as the Raptors close out the season.

The Raptors and Heat last met on January 27 and with the win, the Raptors overtook the Heat for fifth in the conference. On their way out of town, a Raptor fan working at the airport taunted one of the Heat players about losing the fifth seed and the player responded by saying something to the effect of “we’ll get it back”. After falling to as low as the ninth seed, the Heat are playing some of the best basketball of the season and have climbed to sixth and with a win over the Bucks, they’re only one game away from making good on the promise they made on their way out of Toronto in January.

The Raptors meanwhile are in the eighth spot three games behind the Heat but only a game and half ahead of the Bulls. As Paul and Eric said in their VLOG, this game is more about staying ahead of the improving Bulls rather than catching the Heat again.

Even though the Timberwolves have lost 12 in a row, they’re going into tonight’s game against the Raptors with some optimism. Minnesota is coming off an 8 point loss to the Lakers in L.A. where the main players for the Wolves performed well. If the momentum from that game carries over, the Raptors will have a very difficult task of trying to get a rare road win.

It’s the final game of the mini four game road trip for the Raptors and it comes on the tail end of a back to back against the Portland Trailblazers. The Blazers are rolling right now having won three straight and are making a push up the Western conference standings. They’re in eighth place but only two games back of fifth place Oklahoma City. Driving the Blazers is Brandon Roy’s resurgence after missing fifteen games with injuries. Roy averaged 34.5ppg in the last couple of games while shooting an incredible 70.25% from the field. This doesn’t bode well for the Raptors whose defense has regressed to their early season form.
