The Raps play the Orlando Magic for the third time this season. Both previous games were losses and they weren’t close. The Magic are a bad match-up for Toronto with nobody to hold Dwight Howard off the boards or put up much of a fight when he gets the ball down low. The same can be said for most other teams in the league but with Vince and Lewis on the floor at the same time, the Magic offence can be overwhelming.

For most of the season we’ve been hearing about Toronto’s various issues from poor defense, lack of effort, questionable coaching and so on. After starting the season 7-2, the Heat have fallen back to Earth and are now 11-11 while dealing with problems that should sound very familiar to Raptor fans. Miami has given up at least 100ppg in their last six games and Wade and the coaching staff are talking about putting forth a better effort. The Heat are in the middle of a six game home stand, losing their first two against Dallas and Memphis. Things don’t get easier for them with Orlando, Portland and Utah coming to town after tonight.
The Raptors have a chance of showing the rest of the league that they’re more than also-rans in the Eastern conference. If they manage to win tonight in Miami and pull out a win in Orlando tomorrow, they’ll be in a good position to move up in the standings. Jose Calderon is still out and probably won’t play for the next few games while he gets treatment for his hip in Toronto.

The Raptors are in Milwaukee tonight for the second game of another back-to-back. The Bucks also played last night losing to the Celtics. The Bucks have lost eight of the last nine games with their previous win coming against the Bulls at the end of November. Milwaukee was one of the early season surprises with their hot start which may have had something to do with the schedule but they’re struggling now. Brandon Jennings hasn’t shot the ball well since his 55pt outburst against Golden State. He’ll be looking to get back on track along with Bogut who’s also trying to find his game after sitting out six games with a leg injury.
The Raptors rookie Demar DeRozan will try to continue his strong play going up against Jennings, his childhood friend from Compton. Hopefully it turns out better than his performance in L.A in front of family and friends.

For the first time this season the Raptors will be playing the second game of a back to back against a team who hasn’t had time to rest and practice. The Chicago Bulls were in Cleveland last night finishing a stretch of seven out of eight games on the road. The Bulls will now be at home for the next little while and are hoping some home cooking will get them ready tonight.
