Boston is in town to begin the first of two back-to-backs this week. They’ll play Atlanta tomorrow, a team they just lost to on Friday after letting up defensively in the second half. Toronto hasn’t played well against Boston for a while now having lost six straight games. The last loss coming against a Celtics team without Rondo, Pierce and Garnett in the lineup. If they want to avoid extending that streak to seven, they’ll have to show the kind of toughness that was glaring in its absence in Boston last Saturday.

Chris Bosh has scored 9406pts in his career. With his 15th point tonight, he’ll pass Vince Carter to become the all-time leading scorer in Raptors franchise history. The Raptors were lucky to land a talent like Carter and we witnessed some amazing feats while he was in a Raptor uniform. I remember watching Chris play during his rookie season thinking he’ll never amount to anything more than a very good complimentary player. He wasn’t as talented as Vince nor did it seem like he would ever be able to dominate his position with his skinny frame. But year after year, Bosh put in the work to make himself a better player and he has emerged as one of the best players in the NBA. Tonight, Chris will take another step towards cementing his status as the face of the franchise, a position he has earned.

Oh and there’s also a game to be played against the Spurs.

The Raptors and Bobcats last met in Charlotte on November 25. Toronto lost that game by 35 points starting a downward slide that culminated in the drubbing by the Hawks in Atlanta. The Raptors had a chance to avenge the Hawks loss nine days later at home but they were unable to do so. The wait for the chance to make up for the loss in Charlotte was longer but it’s finally here and the players are looking for a different outcome.

That was a pleasant break. I hope everyone got a chance to get away from the computer and recharge.

The Pistons are in Toronto for an afternoon match-up and they’re not a happy bunch. They’ve been struggling on the offensive end missing 3 of their key players due to injury. They may be getting some help however with the probable return of Ben Gordon. Ben is the type of player who gives the defensively-challenged Raptors fits with his ability to create shots anywhere from the floor and drive to the bucket for easy baskets. Prince and Hamilton are still out while Charlie V is questionable. The Pistons are going to have everyone back today. Uh oh.

The schedule has turned for the Raptors. After playing their first 30 games in 53 days, they’ll play the next 30 in 73 days. The extra practice time should yield results on the defensive end like we’ve seen the past few games where the opposing team has been held under 100ppg. Hopefully it’s a trend they can build on as they play teams with better records.
