Raptors hope Martin returns to form
Kevin Martin hasn’t shot the ball well since his arrival in Houston. That changed Saturday in Utah after Martin went 9-13 from the field and added 12 free throws in a losing effort against the Jazz. Slowing KMart down will be a tough task for DeMar DeRozan who had the unenviable job of guarding Durant last night. The rook has had his troubles in the second game of back to backs but he’s not alone in that regard. With Bosh out again, the team will need to bring some extra energy tonight if they hope to leave Houston with a win.

A team with heart
The Houston Rockets have played better than anyone could’ve expected. They’re coming into this afternoon’s game with a record of 13-9 and are tied for 5th in the West. They’re not just beating up on the weaker teams either. It speaks to the commitment of the players and to Adelman’s ability to have the team performing at such a high level without Yao and McGrady seeing a minute of action this year.
Contrast that with the Raptors who may have to do without the services of Jose Calderon for an extended period of time. I don’t think there are many Raptor fans who believe the team is capable of playing well for a prolonged stretch of games with an injury to one of their starters. I can’t imagine what would happen if two starters were injured. To be fair, the Rockets were a much better team to begin with but watching these two teams play just emphasizes the truth of that age-old idiom of hard work trumping talent every time.

Rockets to take on tired Raps tonight
The Raps looked tired last night in Boston as the game went on. They’re probably not going to look any better tonight in the second game of a back-to-back. Evans’ ankle sprain may scare Triano into limiting the core guys’ minutes if they don’t run out of gas.
The Rockets are averaging 98ppg (Raps 96ppg) so far and I have no idea how they’re doing it. No TMac or Yao and Adelman has been spreading the minutes around. The difference in bench production should be the story of this game.
