The Raptors are in Philadelphia for a rare Saturday afternoon game. The Raptors have an opportunity to make up for the disappointing effort the last time these two teams played in Toronto. What could make this a trap game is the number of injuries Philadelphia is dealing with. Thaddeus Young, Lou Williams and Rodney Carney are all questionable for today’s game. Andre Iguodala is also dealing with plantar fasciitis but he’s determined to keep his iron man streak alive for the third consecutive year. Every game for the Raps is critical now with only eight games left in the season and the Chicago Bulls only 1.5 games back in the standings, there’s no room for a letdown.

The Sixers are coming into this afternoon’s game on a five game losing streak. It’s important to point out those five games were against the Suns, Lakers, Magic, Hawks and Celtics. They’re going to be hungry for a win after such tough competition. Iguodala especially will be eager to put the team on his back and prove his coach wrong after recent comments about being a good second option and not being able to carry a team. The Raptors will be buoyed by the return of Chris Bosh today and they’ll need him if they hope to win and start their upcoming four game west coast trip with confidence.

The Raptors and Sixers last met on January 8 and the Raps came away with a hard fought road win after Bosh got the winning bucket in the final seconds of the game. Both teams have played well since that meeting and Philadelphia is in the midst of a five game winning streak. Most of those wins have come without Iverson in the lineup who’s taking care of family issues and is expected to return after the break. The winning streak is also impressive because it’s happening while rumours of Iguodala being traded have hit a fever pitch.

Former 76er Reggie Evans is set to make his regular season debut tonight. He was brought in to provide some much needed toughness on the defensive end and rebound the ball, two things Amir Johnson has done very well since the start of the season. It will interesting to watch how Triano uses four bigs in the lineup on a regular basis.

The Raptors are in Philadelphia tonight to take on the 10-26 76ers in the first of four meetings. Toronto has played only three games so far against teams in the Atlantic division, and two of those games were against Boston. With games still to come against the Knicks and Nets as well as the Sixers, the Raps have an opportunity to pad their win total. That said, Toronto has shown a knack for dropping games they were expected to win. With last week’s debacle in Boston still fresh in their minds, let’s see if they can take care of business against the Sixers.
