Calderon and Jack look to slow down Deron

Utah Jazz Toronto Raptors

If there was any doubt about Deron Williams being one of the best point guards in the league, he has put them to rest this year. Williams is averaging 10.3 assists a game, trailing only Nash and Paul by 0.8 asts/game. Even more impressive is the fact that he has the Jazz chasing the Denver Nuggets for first place in the Northwest division. Utah is only a game behind Denver and Dallas and a game ahead of sixth place Phoenix. The Jazz are looking to continue their climb up the standings unlike last year where a late season collapse ensured a first round matchup against the eventual NBA champions. They begin a three game road trip tonight against the Raptors followed by Indiana and Washington. While the Jazz are 46-25 on the season, they play .500 ball on the road. The Raptors will have to bring energy from the start if they hope to make the Jazz look to the Pacers for their next road win.

Deron back with Jazz in time to face Raps

Toronto RaptorsUtah Jazz

Tonight’s game represents the 2nd of 19 back-to-back games this season. That’s alot of games to play with little time to rest. If the Raptors hope to be a good team this year, they’ll need to start winning some of these back-to-backs.

Deron Williams is expected to return to the lineup tonight in time to face the Raptors. That still leaves the Jazz without the services of CJ Miles, Korver, Harpring and Ronnie Price. No matter how short-handed the Jazz are, they are still a tough team at home and the Raps will probably need Hedo if they want to have a shot at winning.
